LOWR Lower unit6-53 69J1D11NOTE:“R” is the deviation of the lower case dimen-sion from standard. The “R” mark a isstamped on the trim tab mounting surface ofthe lower case in 0.01 mm units. If the “R”mark is unreadable, assume that “R” is zeroand check the backlash when the unit isassembled.Example:If “R” is (+5), thenM0 = 2.50 + (+5)/100 mm = 2.50 + 0.05 mm= 2.55 mmIf “R” is (–3), thenM0 = 2.50 + (–3)/100 mm = 2.50 – 0.03 mm= 2.47 mm2. Install the shim(s) 1, thrust bearing 2,propeller shaft 3, taper roller bearing 4,and claw washer 5, and then tighten thering nut 6 to the specified torque.3. Set the shimming tool on the taper rollerbearing inner race.4. Measure the clearance (M) between theshimming tool and the propeller shafthousing 8 as shown.NOTE:Measure the clearance at four points to findthe clearance average.5. Select the forward gear shim(s) (T2).NOTE:The sum of T2 and M should not be morethan M0.Calculation formula:Specified value (M0) = 2.50 + R/100 mmRing nut wrench: YB-06578T R..Ring nut 6:108 N·m (10.8 kgf·m, 78 ft·lb)Shimming gauge 7: YB-06440-AS69J6684
