This de-vice prevents the engine from starting unlessit is in neutral.WARNINGEWM01581 If the engine starts in gear, the boat canmove suddenly and unexpectedly, pos-sibly causing a collision or throwingpassengers overboard. If the engine ever starts in gear, thestart-in-gear protection device is notworking correctly and you should dis-continue using the outboard. Contactyour Yamaha dealer.This digital electronic control unit is onlyavailable for the outboard motor which youhave purchased.Prior to use of the digital electronic controlunit, set it in order to operate your outboardmotor only.
