3 - 54CHKADJCHECKING THE BATTERYEB305000ELECTRICALCHECKING THE BATTERYNOTE:Since the MF battery is a sealed-type battery,it is not possible to measure the specificgravity of the electrolyte in order to check thecharge state of the battery. Therefore, thecharge of the battery has to be checked bymeasuring the voltage at the battery terminals.CAUTION:CHARGING METHOD This is a sealed-type battery. Neverremove the sealing caps. If the sealingcaps have been removed, the balance willnot be maintained and batteryperformance will deteriorate. Charging time, charging current andcharging voltage for the MF battery aredifferent from those of general typebatteries. The MF battery should becharged as explained in “CHARGINGMETHOD”. If the battery is overcharged,the electrolyte level will dropconsiderably. Therefore, take special carewhen charging the battery.WARNINGBattery electrolyte is dangerous; itcontains sulfuric acid which is poisonousand highly caustic.Always follow these preventive measures: Avoid bodily contact with electrolyte as itcan cause severe burns or permanent eyeinjury. Wear protective eye gear when handlingor working near batteries.Antidote (EXTERNAL): SKIN - Wash with water. EYES - Flush with water for 15 minutesand get immediate medical attention.Antidote (INTERNAL): Drink large quantities of water or milkfollowed with milk of magnesia, beatenegg or vegetable oil. Get immediatemedical attention.
