8 - 36CHASSTEERING SYSTEMREMOVING THE STEERING KNUCKLES1.Remove: Steering knuckle 1NOTE:Use a general puller to separate the ball joints2 from the steering knuckle 1 or the frontlower arm 3.CHECKING THE TIE RODS1.Check: Tie rod free play and movementFree play → Replace the tie rod end.Turns roughly → Replace the tie rod end.2.Check: Tie rods Bends/damage → Replace.CHECKING THE STEERING KNUCKLES1.Check: Steering knucklesDamage/pitting → Replace.2.Check: Ball jointsDamage/pitting → Replace the ball joint.Free play → Replace the ball joint.Turns roughly → Replace the ball joint.*****************************************************Replacement steps: Clean the outside of the steering knuckle. Remove the steering knuckle oil seal. Remove the circlip 1 and rubber boot 2.Use the ball joint remover and installer set.
