For informa-tion on replacing fuses, refer to Appendix A.Unit Serial NumberYou may need this serial number for fault reportingpurposes.Redundant Power System SocketUse one of these sockets to connect a SuperStack IIRedundant Power System (RPS) to the unit. You canuse either socket. Refer to “Connecting a Redun-dant Power System (RPS)” on page 2-6.Reset ButtonUsing the reset button simulates a power-off/oncycle. This has the same effect as carrying out areset via the VT100 interface; refer to “Resetting theSwitch” on page 4-27.Console PortConnect a terminal to the console port to carry outremote or local out-of-band configuration and man-agement. The console port is set to auto-baud, 8data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit.Plug-in Module SlotUse this slot to install a Plug-in Module. The Modulecan be used to provide a high speed link to the restof your network. 3Com provides a range of Plug-inModules; contact your supplier for availability.When a Plug-in Module is not installed, ensure theblanking plate is secured in place.Transceiver Module SlotUse this slot to connect a Transceiver Module andprovide a 10Mbps link to the rest of the network.Port 1 is automatically switched from the front10BASE-T port to the Transceiver Module portwhen a Module is installed. 3Com provides a rangeof Transceiver Modules; contact your supplier foravailability.When a Transceiver Module is not installed, ensurethe blanking plate is secured in place.Ethernet AddressThis label shows the unique Ethernet (or MAC)address assigned to the unit.
