If the subsystem is not specified, all subsystems aredisplayed.If you enable the log display on a terminal connected to the consoleport, your settings will remain in effect even after your console sessionis ended (unless you explicitly disable the log display).When using a Telnet connection, if your Telnet session is disconnected(due to the inactivity timer, or for other reasons), the log display isautomatically halted. You must restart the log display by using theenable log display command.Remote Logging In addition to maintaining an internal log, the Switch 3800 supportsremote logging by way of the UNIX Syslog host facility. To enableremote logging, do the following:n Configure the Syslog host to accept and log messages.n Enable remote logging by using the following command:enable syslogn Configure remote logging by using the following command:config syslog {}{}Specify:n ipaddress — The IP address of the syslog host.n facility — The syslog facility level for local use. Options includelocal0 through local7.n priority — Filters the log to display message with the selectedpriority or higher (more critical). Priorities include critical, warning,and informational. If not specified, only critical priority messagesare sent to the syslog host.n subsystem — Filters the log to display messages associated withthe selected Switch subsystem. Subsystems include Syst, STP, Brdg,SNMP, Telnet, VLAN, and Port. If not specified, all subsystems aresent to the syslog host.Refer to your UNIX documentation for more information about theSyslog host facility.
