AXIS 2460 User’s Manual System Options 39Network SettingsFrom the Network Settings, configure the TCP/IP network settings as follows:Automatic ConfigurationEnable BOOTP - Check this box to use BOOTP to automatically assign an IP address. Thisrequires a BOOTP server on your system.Manual ConfigurationIP Address - Specify a unique 32-bit IP address for your Network DVR, to establishcommunication with your network. Written as four numbers separated by periods, eachnumber within the address must be in the range 0 - 255. For example: 123.123.123.123Note: IP addresses can be assigned at random within isolated networks, provided thateach given address is unique. To avoid unnecessary number duplication and IPclashes, only use registered IP addresses when connecting to the Internet. It isstrongly recommended that you contact your network administrator prior toassigning an IP address for your product.Default Router - Specify the default router (Gateway) used for connecting to other networksand network segments.Subnet Mask - Specify the subnet mask for the Network DVR.Host Name - If you are running a DNS server on your network and wish to connect to theAXIS 2460 using a name, then enter the product’s host name here. The host name isusually the same as the assigned DNS Name. A host name is always the first part of a FullyQualified Domain Name and is always one word, with no period. For example, myserveris the host name in the Fully Qualified Domain Name myserver.axis.com.Domain Name - Enter the name of the domain your AXIS 2460 belongs to.Primary DNS Server - Enter the IP address of the primary DNS server. This specifies the serverthat normally provides the translation of domain names to IP addresses on your network. Ifthe server is not able to resolve a domain name immediately, it will then distribute thedomain name query to other DNS servers on the network.Secondary DNS Server - Specify the IP address of the secondary DNS server. This is theaddress of the server normally used to provide the domain name translation if the primaryDNS server is unavailable.
