Storing the Flat Tire with aFlat Load Floor1. Put back all tools as they were stored in the rearstorage compartment and put the compartmentcover back on.2. Place the flat tire in the tire storage bag and put thetire in a horizontal position on the floor in the rearof the vehicle.3. Route the tie-down strap through the tire as shownin the graphic and attach the strap to the cargotie-downs in the rear of the vehicle.4. Tighten the tie-down strap.Storing the Spare Tire and Tools{CAUTION:The underbody-mounted spare tire needs to bestored with the valve stem pointing down. If thespare tire is stored with the valve stem pointingupwards, its secondary latch won’t workproperly and the spare tire could loosen andsuddenly fall from your vehicle. If this happenedwhen your vehicle was being driven, the tiremight contact a person or another vehicle,causing injury and, of course, damage to itselfas well. Be sure the underbody-mounted sparetire is stored with its valve stem pointing down.To store the spare tire and tools, do the following:1. Lay the compact spare tire on the ground at therear of the vehicle. Position the compact sparetire so that the valve stem is pointed down facingthe rear of the vehicle.2. Lower the cable to the ground. See Removing theSpare Tire and Tools on page 5-74.5-84
