If the brake pedal is notpressed soon after the stop, theElectric Parking Brake (EPB) maybe set. When it is safe, press theaccelerator pedal firmly at any timeto override RAB.{ WarningThere may be instances whereunexpected or undesiredautomatic braking occurs. If thishappens, either press the brakepedal or firmly press theaccelerator pedal to release thebrakes from the Rear AutomaticBraking system. Before releasingthe brakes, check the RVCscreen and check the areaaround the vehicle to make sure itis safe to proceed.Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)If equipped, RCTA displays a redwarning triangle with a left or rightpointing arrow on the RVC screen towarn of traffic coming from the leftor right. This system detects objectscoming from up to 20 m (65 ft) fromthe left or right side of the vehicle.When an object is detected, eitherthree beeps sound from the left orright or three Safety Alert Seatpulses occur on the left or right side,depending on the direction of thedetected vehicle.Use caution while backing up whentowing a trailer, as the RCTAdetection zones that extend outfrom the back of the vehicle do notmove further back when a trailer istowed.See Radio FrequencyStatement 0 371.Turning the Features On or OffTouch X on the center stack toturn on or off the Front and RearParking Assist, Rear AutomaticBraking (RAB), Rear Cross TrafficAlert (RCTA), and the BackingWarning System at the same time.The indicator light next to the buttoncomes on when the features are onand turns off when the featureshave been disabled.Turn off parking assist, RCTA, andRAB when towing a trailer.To turn the RPA symbols orguidance lines (on some models) onor off, see “Rear Camera” underVehicle Personalization 0 157.RCTA can also be turned on or offthrough vehicle personalization.
