Video30NOTES• About the Power Save mode: To save powerwhen the camcorder is powered by abattery pack, the camcorder willautomatically shut off if left without anyoperations for 5 minutes ( 46). Torestore the power, turn the switchtoward MODE and release it, or turn theswitch to and back to ONagain.• When recording in very loud places(such as fireworks shows or concerts),sound may become distorted or it maynot be recorded at the actual levels. Thisis not a malfunction.Using the ViewfinderWhen recording in bright places it maybe difficult to use the LCD screen. Insuch case, change the brightness of theLCD screen ( 27) or use theviewfinder instead. To use theviewfinder, keep the LCD panel closed*.Then, hold both sides of the viewfinderfirmly and pull it straight out until itclicks.Adjust the viewfinder as necessary withthe dioptric adjustment lever. You canalso change the brightness of thescreen ( 27). Using the bright settingwill shorten the effective usage time ofthe battery pack.* The LCD screen and the viewfindercan be used simultaneously when theLCD panel is turned 180 degrees toface the subject ( 26).About the Mode Switch and Recording ProgramsSet the mode switch to AUTO to let the camcorderadjust all the settings for you, allowing you to just pointthe camcorder and start shooting.Set the mode switch to P to select one of the recordingprograms.The Special Scene recording programs ( 49) offer a convenient way toselect the optimal settings to match special recording conditions. Conversely,with flexible recording programs ( 51) you can set the shutter speed or theaperture you want, or enjoy the flexibility to change other settings.
