103Recording AudioSetting the Audio Input Type for the INPUT 1/INPUT 2 TerminalsUsing the INPUT 1/INPUT 2 terminals, you can record audio independently from a microphone or audio inputsource.Set the INPUT 1 or INPUT 2 switch to AES/EBU (digital audio),LINE (analog audio device) or MIC (analog microphone).• To supply an analog microphone with phantom power, set theswitch to MIC+48V instead. Make sure to connect the microphonefirst, before turning the phantom power on. Keep the microphoneconnected when turning off the phantom power.• When the switch is set to AES/EBU, the audio recording level forthat input cannot be adjusted.• When using the INPUT terminals to record to only one channel,use the INPUT 1 terminal.IMPORTANT• When connecting an analog microphone or device that does not support phantom power, make sure to setthe corresponding INPUT switch to MIC or LINE, respectively. If you set the switch to MIC+48V, themicrophone or device may be damaged.Selecting the Audio Input Source for Audio ChannelsIn CAMERA mode, you can select the audio input source that will be recorded on CH1/CH2 or CH3/CH4,independently for each pair of audio channels. For details refer to theAudio Settings and Recorded AudioChannels table (A 99).1 Select > [¡ Audio Setup] > [Audio Input Selection] > [CH1/CH2] or [CH3/CH4].2 Select [INPUT Terminals] (external microphone or audio device), [MIC Terminal] (externalmicrophone) or [Monaural Mic] (built-in microphone).• When an optional EU-V2 Expansion Unit 2 with a commercially available V-mount battery is attached to thecamera, the [INPUT Terminals] option changes to [INPUT Terminals (Camera)] and you have an additionaloption [INPUT Terminals (Exp. Unit)] (only for [CH3/CH4]) to record audio from the INPUT terminals on theEU-V2.About the monaural microphoneThe monaural microphone allows you to add comments while shooting,which can be synchronized to the audio and video during editing.
