E-21Basic Operations738A-E-023ANOTE• Pressing the PIANO SETTING button while a rhythm isplaying stops rhythm play and then changes thekeyboard setup.• Pressing the PIANO SETTING button while the keyboardis in the Synthesizer Mode or other mode exits thecurrent mode and then changes the keyboard setup.• The setup of the keyboard does not change if you pressthe PIANO SETTING button when any one of thefollowing exists.* During real-time recording, step recording, or whileusing the editing function of the Song Memory* While the data save or overwrite message is on thedisplay* During demo tune playUsing the PITCH BEND WheelAs its name suggests, the PITCH BEND wheel lets you “bend”the pitch of a sound. This makes it possible to add a touch ofrealism to saxophone and other tones. To use the PITCH BEND wheel1 While holding down a keyboard key with your righthand, use your left hand to rotate the PITCH BENDwheel up and down.• Releasing the PITCH BEND wheel returns the noteto its original pitch.NOTE• With saxophone and electrical guitar tones, the mostrealistic sounding effects can be produced if you playnotes and operate the PITCH BEND wheelsimultaneously.• See “Pitch Bend Range (Initial Default: 12)” on pageE-73 for changing the bend range of the PITCH BENDwheel.• Never turn on keyboard power while the PITCH BENDwheel is rotated.Using the MODULATIONModulation applies vibrato, which modulates the pitch of anote. It works best with notes that are sustained (held) bykeeping a keyboard key held down, especially when playingthe melody with a violin or other similar tone. You can modify the modulation effect using DSP parameter0 through 7. For more information, see “DSP Parameters” onpage E-28.• WK-3700To use the MODULATION Wheel1 While playing melody notes with your right hand, rotate the MODULATION wheel with your lefthand to apply vibrato to the notes.• The amount of vibrato applied depends on how faryou rotate the MODULATION wheel upwards.Setting the wheel to its neutral position (rotated asfar downwards as it can go) turns vibrato off.• WK-3200To use the MODULATION button1 While holding down a keyboard key with your righthand, use your left hand to press theMODULATION button.• Vibrato is applied as long as the MODULATIONbutton is depressed.NOTE• Modulation can be used to add greater expression tosustained melody notes being played using a violin, synthetic reed, or other similar tone.• Modulation affects different tones in different ways.
