EATON HFX Product Family Installation and Operation Manual E-ELCL-II002-E2 July 20191712.0 FUNCTIONALITY AND BASIC OPERATION12.1 Reset ProcedureA different service tool is required for the resetprocedure. Run the HFX Service Tool installationfile setup.exe in the Service Tool folder of the HFXSupport Package. Follow the installation prompts toinstall the service tool. When launching the HFX Service Tool you may beprompted for a password. The latest passwordscan be found in the file `Password.txt', located inthe Service Tool folder of the HFX support package. You have the option to select `Save password andS/N', which stores the password for the next timethe software is used. Note: The current read onlypassword is: “YZJI-K2LH-0KCX-CYRC”At initial startup, the controller enters the bootloader.A bootloader is simply a small program that loadsthe rest of the firmware when the controller isinitially powered up. This firmware resides in theflash memory and provides the necessary memorymapping and instructions for the controller, allowingthe application program to be processed. Thebootstrap mechanism provides the means to enterthe bootloader. The IEC bootstrap mechanism is asfollows:1. Check for PWM1&2 ≥ 11.0 V2. Delay 3 seconds3. If either the HFX service tool or IEC is connected, abort and don’t load IEC app from flash4. Otherwise, load and run the IEC app in flash likenormal. This provides a mechanism to remove a frozenapplication.1. Load a new application, or2. Reset origin will clear entire application memory.Boot ProcessContinue Booting &Load IEC from flashYesNoNoPWM 1&2 ≥ 11 VDCIEC or HFX service tool is detected within delay periodYesAbort and don’t load IEC app from flash12.2 Sleep Mode (Time Delay Operation)Sleep Mode provides a mechanism to have acontrolled shutdown of the vehicle control system. This is a benefit because the unit can be putinto an idle state where less current is requiredthus extending battery life. It is also useful withapplications where, prior to shut down, thecontroller needs to return key functional outputsto a predefined or home position.Operating Enter SleepMode bit State Sleep Allowed StateSleep True True (Sleep Pin> approximately 6.6 V orIgnition Pin < approximately 6.6 V)Awaken False False (Sleep Pin< approximately 6.6 V andIgnition Pin > approximately 6.6 V)The controller will enter sleep by settingthe “enterSleep” bit to TRUE anytime thatthe “sleepAllowed” status bit is TRUE({Sleep is high} or {IGN is low or not connected}).The controller will awaken from sleep if{Sleep is low or not connected} and {IGN is high}Sleep current 2.4 mA, @ 10 V, 1.9 mA @ 15 V,1.6 mA@ 20 V, 1.2 mA @ 25 V12.3 Task ConfigurationThe maximum number of tasks is 5. The controllersupports the following tasks:• Cyclic: Task processed in a predefined time.• Freewheeling: Task processed as soon as theprogram is started. When complete, it willautomatically restart in a continuous loop.Note: There are no external events available to triggertask execution.HFX Product Family
