Chapter 5. Using the Web InterfaceYou can manage your 8275-416 through your Web browser and Internetconnection. This type of management is referred to as Web-based management.The following are the basic requirements for Web browsers to access the 8275-416:v Support for HTML version 4.0, or laterv Support for HTTP version 1.1, or laterv Support for JavaScript version 1.2, or laterThis chapter explains how to access the 8275-416 Web-based management panelsto configure and manage your 8275-416 .It is important to note that there are equivalent functions offered in the Webinterface as in the terminal interface (that is, there are usually the same menus toaccomplish a task). For example, you log in, there is a Main Menu with the samefunctions available, and so on. The only difference is that the panels are web-like indesign. So, if you have read “Chapter 3. Configuring your 8275-416” on page 17and “Chapter 4. Using the Terminal Interface” on page 25, navigating the Webinterface will not be difficult. This chapter is a brief introduction to the Web interface.Web Page LayoutA Web interface panel for the 8275-416 Web page consists of three frames. Frame1, across the top, appears a banner graphic of the 8275-416 . Frame 2, at thebottom-left displays a hierarchical-tree view. The tree consists of a combination offolders, sub-folders, and configuration and status HTML pages. You can think of thefolders and sub-folders as branches and the configuration and status HTML pagesas leafs. Only the selection of a leaf (not a folder or sub-folder) will cause Frame 2to display a new HTML page. A folder or sub-folder has no corresponding Frame 3HTML page. Frame 3, the bottom-right frame, displays the currently selected deviceconfiguration status or the user configurable information that you have selectedfrom the Tree View of Frame 2, or both. You can resize each of these frames.There are no fixed-sized frames.Starting the Web InterfaceNote: You must configure the IP address of the 8275-416 before using the Webinterface.Follow these steps to bring up the 8275-416 Web interface:1. Enter the IP address of the 8275-416 in the address field of your Web browserand press Enter.2. Log in with your user name and password. Press Enter3. The navigation tree is displayed in Frame 2, and the System Description Menuis displayed in Frame 3.
