133BATTERY CHARGINGNew20013■ Battery informationD Battery lifeThe receiver operates with the BP-244 Li-ion battery pack orBP-262 Battery case as follows.• BP-244: Approx. 8 hours *1• BP-262: Approx. 16.5 hours *1, *2(Continuous receiving at rated AF output with backlight OFF)*1 Operating time may differ depending on the operating conditions.*2 Operating time may differ depending on the installed batteries.Even when the receiver power is OFF, a small current stillflows in the receiver. Remove the battery pack or case fromthe receiver when not using it for a long time. Otherwise, thebattery pack or installed batteries will become exhausted.D Battery indicatorThe battery indicator, “ ” or “ ” appears when theBP-244 or BP-262 is attached to the receiver, and when thebattery indicator, “ ,” blinks before the BP-244 or BP-262is exhausted. The battery indicator does not appear during turningpower ON when the BP-244 is still connected to the bat-tery charger or an external DC power source.■ External DC power operationAn optional cigarette lighter cable (CP-18A/E; for 12 V cigarettelighter socket) can be used for external power operation.D Operating note• BE SURE to use CP-18A/E when connecting a regulated12 V DC power supply.Use an external DC-DC converter to connect the receiverthrough optional CP-18A/E to a 24 V DC power source.• The receiver may receive switching noise from the connectedswitching DC-DC converter (or power supply) depending onthe operating frequencies and/or using antenna, etc.• The power save function is deactivated automatically dur-ing external DC power operation.D CP-18A/E fuse replacementIf the fuse blows or the receiver stops functioning while op-erating with the optional CP-18A/E, find the source of theproblem if possible, and replace the damaged fuse with anew rated one (FGB 5 A) as shown below.Fuse 5 AIndication Battery conditionThe battery pack or case has ample capacity. The battery pack or case is nearing exhaustion.Charging (BP-244) or replacing batteries (BP-262) isnecessary.
