Somemay produce unacceptable results andsome may not be decoded. This is nota fault of either the computer or theAVR580, but rather a by-product of theunpredictable nature of MP3 playback.Tuner OperationThe AVR580’s tuner is capable of tuningAM, FM and FM Stereo broadcast sta-tions. Stations may be tuned manually,or they may be stored as favorite stationpresets and recalled from a 30-positionmemory.Region SelectionThe AVR’s FM tuner must be set for com-patibility with the television format andradio broadcasts in your area. Using theRegion Selector ⁄ located on the rearpanel of the receiver, select the positioncorresponding to the country in which youare using the receiver: C, S or K.Refer to the chart below to determine theproper setting. Press the AM/FM Tuner SelectButton gç or Tuner BandSelector ! again to switch betweenAM and FM so that the desired fre-quency band is selected.3. Press the Tuner Mode Button ^ sto select manual or automatic tuning.When the AUTO Indicator J is lit in theMain Information Display ˜ the tunerwill only stop at those stations that have astrong enough signal to be received withacceptable quality.When the AUTO Indicator J is not lit,the tuner is in a manual mode and willstop at each frequency increment in theselected band.4. To select stations, press the TuningSelector Button 9ué. Whenthe AUTO Indicator J is lit, pressthe button to cause the tuner to searchfor the next highest- or lowest-fre-quency station that has an acceptablesignal. Hold the Tuning SelectorButton 9ué to scan throughthe stations with acceptable signals.Press the Tuner Mode Button ^sto switch to the manual tuning mode,in which each press of the TuningSelector Button 9ué ad-vances one frequency increment; pressand hold the selector button to scanthrough all frequency increments.When tuning FM stations in the Automode, the tuner will only select stereostations. To tune to the next station,switch to the manual tuning mode andpress the button again. If the STEREOIndicator H is not lit, tap the TuningSelector Button 9ué to advanceone frequency increment at a time, orpress and hold it to locate a specific sta-tion. When the TUNED Indicator Ilights, the station is properly tuned andshould be heard with clarity.5. Stations may also be tuned directly bypressing the Direct Button t, andthen pressing the Numeric Keys rthat correspond to the station’s fre-quency. The desired station will auto-matically be tuned. If you press anincorrect button while entering a directfrequency, press the Clear Buttonto start over.NOTE: When the FM reception of astation is weak, audio quality will beincreased by switching to Mono modeby pressing the Tuner Mode Button^s until the STEREO Indicator Hgoes out.Preset TuningUsing the remote, up to 30 stations maybe stored in the AVR580’s memory foreasy recall using the front-panel controlsor the remote.To enter a station into the memory, firsttune the station using the steps outlinedabove. Then:1. Press the Memory Button on theremote. The MEMORY Indicator Gwill light and flash in the MainInformation Display ˜.2. Within five seconds, press theNumeric Keys r corresponding tothe location where you wish to storethis station’s frequency. Once entered,the preset number will appear in theMain Information DIsplay ˜.3. Repeat the process after tuning anyadditional stations to be preset.Recalling Preset Stations• To manually select a station previouslyentered in the preset memory, pressthe Numeric Keys r that corre-spond to the desired station’s memorylocation.• To manually tune through the list ofstored preset stations one by one,press the Preset Stations SelectorButtons $ © on the frontpanel or remote.Tape RecordingIn normal operation, the audio or videosource selected for listening through theAVR580 is sent to the record outputs.This means that any program you arewatching or listening to may be recorded333534
