It is normal for the fan to beinactive at normal volume levels.43Processor ResetIn the rare case where the unit’s operationor the displays seem abnormal, the causemay involve the erratic operation of thesystem’s memory or microprocessor.To correct this problem, first unplug theunit from the AC wall outlet and wait atleast three minutes. After the pause,reconnect the AC power cord and checkthe unit’s operation. If the system stillmalfunctions, a system reset may clearthe problem.To clear the AVR580’s entire systemmemory including tuner presets, outputlevel settings, delay times and speakerconfiguration data, first put the unit inStandby by pressing the System PowerControl Button 2. Next, press and holdthe Surround Mode 7 and the TunerMode Selector ^ buttons for threeseconds.The unit will turn on automatically anddisplay the RESET message in theMain Information Display ˜.NOTE: Resetting the processor will eraseany configuration settings you have madefor speakers, output levels, surroundmodes and digital input assignments, aswell as the tuner presets. After a reset,the unit will be returned to the factorypresets, and all settings for these itemsmust be reentered.If the system is still operating incorrectly,there may have been an electronic dis-charge or severe AC line interferencethat has corrupted the memory ormicroprocessor.If these steps do not solve the problem,consult an authorized JBL service center.TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
