12Quick Guide to Using the JBL Cinema ProPack 600IIThe DVD600II can play discs in the followingformats:• Both 5-inch (12cm) and 3-inch (8cm) discs• CD audio discs • DTS audio discs• CD-R audio discs • CD-RW audio discs• DVD movie discs• VCD video compact discs• Discs containing MP3 compressed-audio filesHowever, it cannot play:• DVD discs with a Region Code other than"1" or "All"• DVD discs using PAL format video• DVD-ROM data discs• DVD-RAM discs • CD-I discs• CD-G discs • SVCD discs• Photo CD discs • CD-R/RW data discsNotes on DVD-Audio discs:• The DVD600II is not capable of playing selec-tions in the DVD-Audio format. However, manyDVD-Audio discs include audio tracks in thePCM, Dolby Digital or other formats which theDVD600II is capable of playing. You may needto press the Title Button x rather than theMenu Button z in order to access theseformats.• Some DVD-Audio discs display a still picturewhile a selection is playing. Sometimes, thispicture may disappear when play is stopped andthe DVD600II is placed in the Resume mode. Torestore the picture, fully stop play by pressingthe Stop Button twice before contin-uing play.Plug the Power Cord into an unswitchedAC outlet.Press the Main Power Switch on theDVD600II so that it latches and the PowerIndicator turns amber, indicating that theunit is in the Standby mode. Turn the unit on bypressing the System Power Control Button. The Power Indicator will turngreen.Open the Disc Tray by pressing theOpen/Close Button and insert up tofive discs in the tray locations, using theDisc Skip Button to rotate thecarousel to access all locations. Make sureeach disc is loaded with the label side up, andthat it is seated correctly in its location.When you close the drawer, the DVD600II willautomatically engage the On Screen Library™(patent pending) system, which will read andidentify each disc, then display a menu identify-ing the type (DVD, CD or MP3) and title (if avail-able) by numbered disc location. The processcan take approximately one minute. You maypress the Stop Button , or use the⁄ /¤ Buttons y to scroll down to theExit button, and press the Set Button , tointerrupt this process. Alternatively, you mayuse the ⁄ /¤ Buttons y to scroll to adesired disc, even if the disc has not yet beenidentified, and press the Set Button tobegin play. Also, if you closed the disc tray bypressing one of the Direct Access Buttons, the DVD600II will immediately begin toplay that disc.Pressing a Numeric Key –while the On Screen Library is displayed willremove it from the display, but will not changethe current disc or start play of any disc.Whichever type of disc is playing, make surethat you have selected DVD as the input sourceon the DCR600II by pressing d on the remote,or ! on the front panel of the receiver untilDVD is indicated.Skip to another disc that was previously loadedin the DVD600II by pressing the Disc SkipButton . If you press a Numeric Keyfor any disc positioncontaining a disc within three seconds, theDVD600II will skip directly to that disc.Otherwise, the DVD600II will play the nextavailable disc in order. Press the Disc SkipButton twice in succession for afaster jump to the next disc.You may also use JBL’s exclusive On ScreenLibrary system later during the listening sessionto display all discs currently loaded by pressingthe On Screen Library Button , as long asthe current disc is stopped. If you had previouslyinterrupted the On Screen Library system whileit was in the process of identifying the loadeddiscs, it will resume that process at this time.Press the DVD Button d and use the ⁄ /¤Buttons y to select a disc and theSet Button to begin playing that disc.Directly access any track on the current discwhile it is playing or in Pause mode by pressingone or more of the Numeric Keys –.At this time you may find it convenient to quicklyprogram your remote control to have the capa-bility of adjusting the volume control for theDCR600II while it is set to control the DVD600II.Press the DVD Selector d and the MuteButton c at the same time, then press theVolume Up Button s, then press the MAINSelector h.In addition to the transport keys located in thelower portion of the remote, when in DVDmode, you may use the arrow-key cluster in themiddle of the remote to access these basicfunctions:Fast-Forward Right ArrowFast-Reverse Left Arrow `Chapter + Up Arrow yChapter – Down ArrowPlay/Pause SetWhen a CD is playing, the arrow keys will notoperate the transport controls while the StatusBanner is displayed. However, if you press theStatus Button e, the banner will disappearand pressing an arrow key will affect the trans-port as described above. The Status Banner willthen return to the display, and the arrow keyswill again have no effect on the transport.Therefore, you should use the regular transportcontrols at the bottom of the remote –when playing CDs.For most discs, the DVD600II and DCR600II willautomatically select the correct surround mode.To make sure that audio in the DTS audio formatis correctly processed, you must choose that for-mat as the default in the DVD600II setup menu.Simply stop play of the disc, and enter the setupmenu by pressing Menu z on the remote.Use the ⁄ /¤ Buttons y to scroll downto Digital Audio Output. Pressthe Set Button to select this option, and ascreen will pop up, allowing you to choose fromPCM, Dolby Digital or DTS outputs. Use the⁄ /¤ Buttons y to highlight DTS, thenpress the Set Button to select this choice.You do not need to reset the audio output forother formats. The DCR600II and DVD600II willautomatically process PCM, Dolby Digital andDTS signals correctly. Press the Menu Buttonz to exit the menu screen.
