We do notrecommend that extension cords be used withthis product. As with all electrical devices, donot run power cords under rugs or carpets orplace heavy objects on them. Damaged powercords should be replaced immediately by anauthorized service depot with a cord meetingfactory specifications.Handle the AC Power Cord GentlyWhen disconnecting the power cord from anAC outlet, always pull the plug – never pull thecord. If you do not intend to use the system forany considerable length of time, disconnect theplugs from the AC outlet.Do Not Open the Cabinetof Any ComponentsThere are no user-serviceable componentsinside this product. Opening the cabinets maypresent a shock hazard, and any modificationto the product will void your guarantee. If wateror any metal object such as a paper clip, wire ora staple accidentally falls inside, disconnect itfrom the AC power source immediately, andconsult an authorized service station.CATV or Antenna GroundingIf an outside antenna or cable system isconnected to this product, be certain that itis grounded so as to provide some protectionagainst voltage surges and static charges.Section 810 of the National Electrical Code,ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1984, provides informationwith respect to proper grounding of the mastand supporting structure, grounding of the lead-inwire to an antenna discharge unit, size of groundingconductors, location of antenna dischargeunit, connection to grounding electrodes andrequirements of the grounding electrode.NOTE TO CATV SYSTEMINSTALLER:This reminder is provided to call the CATV(Cable TV) system installer’s attention to article820-40 of the NEC that provides guidelines forproper grounding and, in particular, specifiesthat the cable ground shall be connected to thegrounding system of the building, as close tothe point of cable entry as possible.Installation Location■ To ensure proper operation, particularly ofthe precision laser transport mechanism andcarousel tray in the DVD600II, and to avoidthe potential for safety hazards, place thecomponents on a firm and level surface.When placing the components on a shelf, becertain that the shelf and any mounting hard-ware can support the weight of the product.■ Make certain that proper space is providedboth above and below each component forventilation. If this product will be installed ina cabinet or other enclosed area, make cer-tain that there is sufficient air movementwithin the cabinet. Under some circum-stances, a fan may be required.■ Make certain that there is enough room infront of the DVD600II for the disc tray to openfully, and that there is enough space abovethe unit so that discs may easily be inserted.■ Do not place the components directly on acarpeted surface.■ Avoid installation in extremely hot or coldlocations, or in an area that is exposed todirect sunlight or heating equipment.■ Avoid moist or humid locations.■ Do not obstruct the ventilation slots on thetop of any component, or place objectsdirectly over them.■ Do not place the DVD600II in a location thatis subject to direct sunlight or extreme heator cold, as these conditions may damage thediscs used in the player, or the player itself.■ If you will be stacking the DCR600II andDVD600II, place the DVD600II DVD changeron top of the DCR600II receiver, as thereceiver is too heavy to be placed on top ofthe DVD changer.CleaningWhen the system gets dirty, wipe it with aclean, soft, dry cloth. If necessary, wipe it witha soft cloth dampened with mild soapy water,then a fresh cloth with clean water. Wipe dryimmediately with a dry cloth. NEVER use ben-zene, aerosol cleaners, thinner, alcohol or anyother volatile cleaning agent. Do not useabrasive cleaners, as they may damage the fin-ish of metal parts. Avoid spraying insecticidenear the components.Moving the ComponentsBefore moving the components, be certain todisconnect any interconnection cords withother components, and make certain that youdisconnect the unit from the AC outlet.Important Information for the UserThis equipment has been tested and found tocomply with the limits for a Class-B digitaldevice, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules.The limits are designed to provide reasonableprotection against harmful interference in aresidential installation. We suggest that yousave the carton and packing materials for usein shipping if you move, or should the systemever need repair.To minimize the size of the carton in storage,you may wish to flatten it. This is done bycarefully slitting the tape seams on the bottomand collapsing the carton. Other cardboardinserts may be stored in the same manner.Packing materials that cannot be collapsedshould be saved along with the carton in aplastic bag.If you do not wish to save the packaging mate-rials, please note that the carton and othersections of the shipping protection are recycla-ble. Please respect the environment and dis-card those materials at a local recycling center.
