Connection/Installation82Connection/InstallationThis section is for the professional installer.For safety’s sake, leave wiring and mounting toprofessionals. Consult the car audio dealer.Before InstallationBefore installation of this unit, please note thefollowing precautions.# WARNINGS• If you connect the ignition wire (red) andthe battery wire (yellow) to the car chassis(ground), you may cause a short circuit, thatin turn may start a fire. Always connect thosewires to the power source running throughthe fuse box.• Do not cut out the fuse from the ignition wire(red) and the battery wire (yellow). The powersupply must be connected to the wires viathe fuse.# CAUTION• Install this unit in the console of your vehicle.Do not touch the metal part of this unit duringand shortly after the use of the unit. Metal partsuch as the heat sink and enclosure becomehot.NOTE• Mounting and wiring this product requiresskills and experience. For best safety, leave themounting and wiring work to professionals.• Do not install the unit if it becomes an obstacleto driver performance.• Adjust the panel position not to become anobstacle to driver performance.• Make sure to ground the unit to a negative 12VDC power supply.• Do not install the unit in a spot exposed todirect sunlight or excessive heat or humidity.Also avoid places with too much dust or thepossibility of water splashing.• Do not use your own screws. Use only thescrews provided. If you use the wrong screws,you could damage the unit.• If the power is not turned ON (“There is anerror in the speaker wiring. Please check theconnections.” is displayed), the speaker wiremay have a short-circuit or touched the chassisof the vehicle and the protection function mayhave been activated. Therefore, the speakerwire should be checked.• If your car’s ignition does not have an ACCposition, connect the ignition wires to a powersource that can be turned on and off with theignition key. If you connect the ignition wire toa power source with a constant voltage supply,such as with battery wires, the battery may bedrained.• If the console has a lid, the lid will not beclosed even when the unit is installed correctly.• If the fuse blows, first make sure the wires arenot touching to cause a short circuit, thenreplace the old fuse with one with the samerating.• Insulate unconnected wires with vinyl tape orother similar material. To prevent a short circuit,do not remove the caps on the ends of theunconnected wires or the terminals.• Connect the speaker wires correctly to theterminals to which they correspond. The unitmay be damaged or fail to work if you sharethe ¤ wires or ground them to any metal partin the car.• When only two speakers are being connectedto the system, connect the connectors eitherto both the front output terminals or to boththe rear output terminals (do not mix frontand rear). For example, if you connect the ¢connector of the left speaker to a front outputterminal, do not connect the ¤ connector toa rear output terminal.• After the unit is installed, check whether thebrake lamps, blinkers, wipers, etc. on the carare working properly.• Mount the unit so that the mounting angle is30° or less.• This unit has the cooling fan to decrease theinternal temperature. Do not mount the unitin a place where the cooling fan of the unit isblocked. Blocking these openings will inhibitthe cooling of the internal temperature andresult in malfunction. |
