9-20 Upgrading Your ServerPCI BoardThe server contains seven slots for PCI Express board.Some PCI Express boards support the hot-plug function by which they may be installed or removedwith the power of the server being on. Your server supports the hot-plug function if the WindowsServer 2003 is used as an operating system. See "List of Optional Devices and their Available Slots"on page 9-24 for the PCI boards supporting the hot-plug function.IMPORTANT: The PCI board is extremely sensitive to staticelectricity. Make sure to touch the metal frame of the server todischarge static electricity from your body before handling the PCIboard. Do not touch the PCI board terminals or on-board parts by a barehand or place the PCI board directly on the desk. For static notes, seethe section "Anti-static Measures".NOTES: The tab on the PCI board slot indicates hot-plug or non-hot-plug byits color. Hot-plug slot has the green tab (PCI slots #1 and #2), andnon-hot-plug slot has the blue tab (PCI slots #3 through #7). There are four types of PCI Express board, x1, x4, x8, and x16.
