Upgrading Your Server 9-61InstallationTake the following steps to install the processor.IMPORTANT: The processor is extremely sensitive to static electricity. Make sureto touch the metal frame of the server to discharge static electricityfrom your body before handling the processor. Do not touch theprocessor pins by a bare hand or place the processor directly on thedesk. For static notes, see the section "Anti-static Measures"described earlier. When using the server with the single processor configuration,processor must be installed on the Processor #1. Install the processor in the ascending order of the processor number(see figure on the previous page). To maintain the cooling effect in the server, install the dummy coverto the empty slots of the processor.1. See the section "Preparing for Installation and Removal" described earlier to prepare.2. Unlock the front bezel with the security key, and remove the front bezel.3. Remove the cables from the front panel, and put them outside the server.4. If optional 5-inch device is installed, disconnect the cable from the device, and pull outthe 5-inch device toward you.5. Unlatch the hooks of the CPU protect cover.
