51 Press and hold thebutton at the top of thebattery.2 Slide the batterytoward the bottom ofthe phone.3 Lift the battery off thephone.Important battery information• The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of timesbut it will eventually wear out. When the operating time (talktime and standby time) is noticeably shorter than normal, it istime to buy a new battery.• Use only batteries approved by the phone manufacturer andrecharge your battery only with the chargers approved by themanufacturer. When a charger is not in use, disconnect it fromthe power source. Do not leave the battery connected to acharger for longer than a week, since overcharging may shortenits life. If left unused a fully charged battery will discharge itselfover time.• Temperature extremes will affect the ability of your battery tocharge: allow it to cool down or warm up first.• Use the battery only for its intended purpose.• Never use any charger or battery which is damaged or worn out.• Do not short circuit the battery. Accidental short circuiting canoccur when a metallic object (coin, clip, or pen) causes directconnection of the + and - terminals of the battery (metal stripson the back of the battery), for example when you carry a sparebattery in your pocket or purse. Short circuiting the terminalsmay damage the battery or the connecting object.• Leaving the battery in hot or cold places, such as in a closed carin summer or winter conditions, will reduce the capacity andlifetime of the battery. Always try to keep the battery between59º F and 77º F (15º C and 25º C). A phone with a hot or coldbattery may temporarily not work, even when the battery is fullycharged. NiMH batteries’ performance is particularly limited intemperatures below 14º F (-10º C). Li-ion batteries’ performanceis particularly limited in temperatures below 32º F (0º C).• Do not dispose of batteries in a fire!• Batteries must be recycled or disposed of properly. They must notbe disposed of in municipal waste.
