36System selectionYour phone is capable of working in residential, private, andpublic systems. You can choose how your phone selects anetwork to use.This feature is 0HQX 5 in your phone. The default is$XWRPDWLF, which means your phone automatically searchesfor networks available to you and chooses the appropriateone. Every time you switch on your phone, $XWRPDWLF isselected.If you choose 0DQXDO, your phone displays a list of availableand unavailable networks. (You can’t use unavailablenetworks.) Scroll through the choices and press 2. whenyou reach the one you want.If you choose 1HZ 6HDUFK, your phone begins a new searchfor new private and residential systems. When it finds thebest new system, it displays it. You can then select it or startanother search by pressing 1H[W.Note: The 0DQXDO and 1HZ VHDUFK features can be used onlywhen your primary phone number (NAM1) is selected. Seepage 34.To switch from private to publicIf you are in a private system and want access to a publicsystem, press and hold 0HQX when you are not in a call.Your phone will display 6HDUFK SXEOLF V\VWHPV" Press 2. andyour phone will use the public system for the next outgoingcall. After the call it will revert to $XWRPDWLF systemselection.Automatic answerThis feature is available only when your phone is connectedto a headset or to an approved handsfree car kit equippedwith the ignition sense option, with the ignition on.When automatic answer is turned on, your phone answersincoming voice calls after one ring. Use 0HQX 4 1 4 to turnthis feature on or off.
