For example, in France, you are only allowedto use WLAN indoors. For more information, contactyour local authorities.Your device can detect and connect to a wireless localarea network (WLAN). To use a WLAN, a network mustbe available in the location and your device must beconnected to it.WLAN connectionsTo use a WLAN, you must create an internet accesspoint in a WLAN. Use the access point for applicationsthat need to connect to the internet. A WLANconnection is established when you create a dataconnection using a WLAN access point. The active WLANconnection is ended when you end the dataconnection. You can also end the connection manually.You can use a WLAN during a voice call or when packetdata connection is active. You can only be connected toone WLAN access point device at a time, but severalapplications can use the same internet access point.When the device is in the Offline profile, you can stilluse a WLAN, if available. Remember to comply with anyapplicable safety requirements when establishing andusing a WLAN connection.If you move the device to another location within theWLAN and out of range of a WLAN access point, theroaming functionality can automatically connect yourdevice to another access point that belongs to the sameWLAN. As long as you remain within range of accesspoints that belong to the same network, your devicecan stay connected to the network.Tip: To check the unique media access control(MAC) address that identifies your device, forexample to configure the MAC address of yourdevice to a WLAN router, enter *#62209526# inthe home screen.
