Install applications and softwareYou can transfer installation files to your devicefrom a compatible computer, download themduring browsing, or receive them in a multimediamessage, as an e-mail attachment, or using otherconnectivity methods, such as Bluetoothconnectivity. You can use Nokia Application Installerin Nokia Ovi Suite or Nokia Nseries PC Suite to installan application to your device.Icons in Application manager indicate thefollowing:.sis or .sisx applicationJava applicationapplication not fully installedapplication installed in the mass memoryapplication installed in the memory cardImportant: Only install and use applicationsand other software from trusted sources, such asapplications that are Symbian Signed or havepassed the Java Verified testing.Before installation, note the following:● To view the application type, version number,and the supplier or manufacturer of theapplication, select Options > View details.To display the security certificate details of theapplication, in Details:, scroll to Certificates:, andselect View details. See "Certificatemanagement", p. 166.● If you install a file that contains an update orrepair to an existing application, you can onlyrestore the original application if you have theoriginal installation file or a full backup copy ofthe removed software package. To restore theoriginal application, remove the application, andinstall the application again from the originalinstallation file or the backup copy.The .jar file is required for installing Javaapplications. If it is missing, the device may askyou to download it. If there is no access pointdefined for the application, you are asked toselect one. When you are downloading the .jarfile, you may need to enter a user name andpassword to access the server. You obtain thesefrom the supplier or manufacturer of theapplication.To install an application or software:1. To locate an installation file, press , andselect Applications > App. mgr..
