Using the BayStack 410-24T 10BASE-T Switch2-8 309985-B Rev 00Connecting 10BASE-T Ports and 10/100 MDA PortsConnect devices to the 10BASE-T ports and to the (optional) 10/100 MDA portsas shown in Figure 2-5.The 10BASE-T switch ports and the 10/100 MDA ports are configured with RJ-45connectors that are wired as MDI-X ports. As in conventional Ethernet repeaterhubs, the BayStack 410-24T switch ports connect via straight-through cables tothe network interface card (NIC) in a node or server. When connecting to anEthernet hub or to another switch, you must use a crossover cable. SeeAppendix D, “Connectors and Pin Assignments,” for more information.A standard RJ-45 connection is provided to connect devices to the switch throughthe 10BASE-T ports and to the 10/100 MDA ports. To connect the RJ-45 port cables, insert the cable plug into the appropriate portconnector until the release tab snaps into the locked position (Figure 2-5).Figure 2-5. 10BASE-T Port ConnectionsNote: The 10/100 MDA ports must use Category 5 UTP cable toaccommodate the 100BASE-TX functionality.Uplink/Expansion Module 2826 2725Comm Port17 1913 15 2118 2014 16 22 24235 71 3 96 82 4 10 1211BS41042BComm PortActivity10010F Dx400-4TX MDA400-4TX MDARJ-45 connectorStatus DwnPwr UpCasRPSU Base ActivityActivityLinkLinkRJ-45 connector10BASE-T/100BASE-TX(optional) MDA ports)10BASE-T switch ports
