Intelligent Detector Functions OperationAFP-200 PN 15511:H2 10/14/2002 1154.7 Intelligent Detector Functions4.7.1 Summary of Detector FunctionsTable 37 contains a summary of functions for intelligent detectors used with the controlpanel.Table 37 Intelligent Detector Functions4.7.2 Pre-Alarm Operation/Advanced Warning AddressableCombustion Sensing (AWACS™)If a photo or ionization detector exceeds the programmed Pre-Alarm level, a Pre-Alarmcondition occurs: the panel sounder and zone 99 activate; and the PRE -ALARM WARNINGLED lights. Figure 110 shows a typical message that is sent to the control panel LCD,LCD-80, printer and History buffer.Figure 110 Typical Display for a Pre-Alarm Alert EventFunction DescriptionAnalog Display The control panel reads and displays analog information from the 99analog detectors. The display shows the percent of the alarm thresholdfor each detector.Day/Night SensitivityOperationYou can program the system to automatically force smoke detectors tominimum sensitivity during the day. For more information, refer to“Time Functions” on page 116.Maintenance Alert When compensation reaches the limit of the amount of driftcompensation that can be safely applied, the control panel reports aspecial trouble condition, per national fire code standards. Thiscondition also activates if the detector remains at very high or very lowlevels for an extended time.Automatic TestOperationThe control panel performs an automatic test of each detector every256 minutes. Failure to meet the test limits causes an “Detector TestFail” trouble.Type CodeSupervisionThe control panel monitors hardware device type codes (FSI, FSP,FST, monitor module, control module, and relay module) for eachinstalled device at regular intervals (an interval can take up to 30minutes for full capacity system). If a mismatch of type compared to theprogram occurs, the control panel generates a point trouble labelledI NVALID TYPE.LED ControlOperationA global program selection to prevent detector LEDs from blinkingduring normal operation. A typical application is in a sleeping areawhere a blinking light can distract people. As a standard function, thecontrol panel allows all LEDs to turn on in alarm.Alarm Verification andCounter OperationThe control panel performs alarm verification on programmed FSI andFSP intelligent smoke detectors. The verification time is a globalprogram selection of 0–30 seconds. Each detector includes averification counter, which displays the number of times that a detectorentered verification but did not time-out to alarm. The counterincrements to 99 and holds.PREALM@SMOKE(PHOTO)ROOM@5024ALERT: 0.50/1.00%11:13A@12/25/97@D66This example shows a detector programmed for alarm at 1.00% per foot(30.48 cm) of obscuration (High level). The 50% indicates that the detectoris at the Alert level programmed for 50% of that, or 0.50% per foot (30.48cm) . The 50% is a real-time display and may change. Alert Pre-Alarmsautomatically restore.Technical Manuals Online! - http://www.tech-man.com
