COLOR WISE P RINT O PTIONS 92• If a gray is specified as a spot color, the Print Gray using Black Only option does notaffect that gray.Rendering StylesThe Rendering Style option specifies a CRD for color conversions. To control theappearance of images, such as prints from office applications or RGB photographs fromPhotoshop, select the appropriate rendering style. The CX3641MFP allows you to choosefrom the four rendering styles currently found in industry standard ICC profiles.RGB SeparationThe RGB Separation option determines how RGB colors (as well as Lab and XYZ colors)are converted to CMYK. The name of this option is meant to be descriptive, because theoption defines the color spaces that are used by the CX3641MFP to “separate” the RGBdata into CMYK values.CX3641MFPrendering styleBest used for Equivalent ICCrendering stylePhotographic: Typically resultsin less saturated output thanpresentation rendering whenprinting out-of-gamut colors. Thisstyle preserves tonal relationshipsin images.Photographs, including scans andimages from stock photographyCDs and digital camera images.Image, Contrast,and PerceptualPresentation: Creates saturatedcolors but does not match printedcolors precisely to displayed colors.In-gamut colors, such as fleshtones, are rendered well. This styleis similar to the Photographicrendering style.Artwork and graphs inpresentations. In many cases, thisstyle can be used for mixed pagesthat contain presentation graphicsand photographs.Saturation,GraphicsRelative Colorimetric: Provideswhite-point transformation betweenthe source and destination whitepoints. For example, the bluishwhite color (gray) of a monitor isreplaced by paper white. This styleavoids visible borders betweenblank spaces and white objects.Advanced use when colormatching is important, but youprefer white colors in thedocument to print as paper white.This style may also be used withPostScript color management toaffect CMYK data for simulationpurposes.RelativeColorimetricAbsolute Colorimetric: Providesno white point transformationbetween the source and destinationwhite points.
