MAINTENANCE4.1 Cleaning4.1.1 Print Head/Platen/SensorsThis chapter describes how to perform routine maintenance.To ensure the continuous high quality operation of the printer, you shouldperform a regular maintenance routine. For high usage it should be doneon a daily basis. For low usage it should be done on a weekly basis.To maintain the printer performance and print quality, please clean theprinter regularly, or whenever the media or ribbon is replaced.1. Turn off the power and unplug the printer.2. Open the Top Cover.3. Turn the Head Lever to the “FREE” position, and then release theRibbon Shaft Holder Plate.4. Open the Print Head Block.5. Remove the ribbon and media.CAUTION!When cleaning the print head, be careful not to damage the print headwith hard objects like watches or rings.Since the print head element can be easily damaged by shock, pleasetreat it carefully and do not hit it with hard objects.WARNING!1. Be sure to disconnect thepower cord beforeperforming maintenance.Failure to do this maycause an electric shock.2. To avoid injury, be carefulnot to pinch your fingerswhile opening or closingthe cover and print headblock.3. The print head becomeshot immediately afterprinting. Allow it to coolbefore performing anymaintenance.4. Do not pour water directlyonto the printer.5. Do not touch any movingparts, projection and theedge of sheet metal.CAUTION!1. Do not use any volatilesolvent including thinnerand benzene, as this maycause discoloration to thecover, print failure, orbreakdown of the printer.2. Do not touch the PrintHead Element with barehands, as static maydamage the Print Head.Care must be taken not to allowthe metal or glass part of a watchto touch the print head edge.Care must be taken not to allow ametal object like a ring to touchthe print head edge.
