38 Introduction: Recording, Playback and P2 Card HandlingRecording, Playback and P2 Card Handling◆ NOTE:• When you use this unit for the first time, be sure to set the internalclock in setup menu No. 069 (CLOCK SET). (➝ page 175)1 Turn on the POWER switch of this unit.2 Insert a P2 card in a P2 card slot, and push it in untilthe EJECT button pops out.3 Bend the protruding EJECT button downwards to theright and set the card lock to ON.• The P2 card access LEDs on this unit show P2 card statuswhen a P2 card is inserted.➝For details on P2 card status, refer to “P2 card access LEDsand P2 card status” (page 39).To start recording after a stop in the recording mode, pressthe REC button and the PLAY button simultaneously.Recording starts on the P2 card whose access LED lightsorange. Press the STOP button to stop recording.Press PLAY to start playback.Recording cannot be started from the thumbnail/playlistmode.➝For details, refer to “Control Reference Guide” (page 20).◆ NOTE:• The P2 card access LED for a slot where a P2 card is inserted duringplayback of a previously inserted card will remain off and thesecond P2 card is not recognized. The second P2 card isrecognized when playback ends.The continuous playback function, however, allows playback of allthe clips, including those in the P2 card inserted during playback.➝ Refer to “Continuous Playback of Clips by Inserting/Removing P2Cards” (page 57).• A P2 card inserted in another slot during recording of a previouslyinserted card will cause the P2 card access LED to flash and thecard will be recognized. Do not remove the P2 card from the slotwhile it is being recognized.• P2 cards are played back and recorded in the following slot order:1 ➝ 2 ➝ 3 ➝ 4 ➝ 5 ➝ 6 ➝ 1• When the power is turned on and the slot selected for recording atthe last power off contains the same P2 card, that slot will again beselected for recording. If the slot does not contain a P2 card orcontains another P2 card, a card in a slot with the lowest number willbe selected for recording.• Slots can be selected also during recording.When a slot could not be selected, for example, at the start ofrecording or right after changing the P2 card slot used for recording,“SLOT SEL INVALID” appears on the LCD monitor. OngoingLOOPREC and VFR recording also prevent selection of P2 cardslots.• When a P2 card becomes full during recording, a slot with a highernumber that contains a card with free space will be selected forrecording.• Format P2 cards only on a P2 card device.• Recording is not available when setup menu No. 27 (VDCP CMD) isON during REMOTE operation.Insert a P2 CardOFFCARD LOCKONOFFCARD LOCKONRecording and Playback
