IntroductionIntroductionBackup is a procedure where a copy of thesystem programming data and attendant consoledatabase is stored on an external storagemedium, such as a floppy disk or magnetic tape.If it becomes necessary to re-initialize the systemprogramming data and attendant consoledatabase, it will be faster to reload from tape ordisk than by manual re-input.This section describes a backup procedure ofsystem programming data and attendant consoledatabase at on-site.Backup TypesThere are following two backup types.1. Save (Main Unit Backup Device)• Saving system programming data andattendant console database from thesystem to the backup device at on-site canbe done during on-line mode as well asoff-line mode.• When an attendant console is used as thesystem administration device, saving thesystem programming data and attendantconsole database can be done using apersonal computer with external storagemedium.2. Load (Backup Device Main Unit)• Loading system programming data andattendant console database from thebackup device to the system can be doneduring off-line mode only.• When an attendant console is used as thesystem administration device, loading thesystem programming data and attendantconsole database can be done using apersonal computer with external storagemedium.(Note)To save/load the attendant console database,first save/load the data to the Main Unit and thensave/load the attendant console database to thebackup device.Refer to Section 13-E “Backup Mode” for furtherinformation.16-A-1Backup Configuration1.
