(P58)This mode allows you to take beautifulpictures of fireworks exploding in the nightsky.∫ Technique for Fireworks modeWe recommend performing the followingsteps to prefocus on the point the pictureswill be taken so that you do not miss takingpictures of the fireworks when they arefired.1 Aim the camera at an object, such as adistant light, that is about the samedistance from the camera as the pointwhere the fireworks will rise.2 Press the shutter button halfway until thefocus indication (P25) lights.3 Switch the AF/MF button to [MF]. (P56)4 Aim the camera in the direction that thefireworks will be fired and wait.5 Press the shutter button fully to take thepicture when the fireworks are fired.• If zoom was used, the focus position willnot be correct. Perform steps 2 to 5 again.• We recommend using a tripod.• The focus range is 5 m (16.4 feet) to ¶ inAF mode. (We recommend performingsteps 1 to 5 above for prefocus.)• The shutter speed becomes the following.– When [OFF] is set on the optical imagestabilizer function: Fixed to 2 second– When [MODE1] or [MODE2] is set onthe optical image stabilizer function:1/4th or 2 second (The shutter speedbecomes 2 second only when thecamera has determined that there islittle jitter such as when using a tripodetc.)• Histograms are always displayed inorange. (P40)• The flash setting is fixed to Forced OFF[ ].• ISO sensitivity is fixed to [ISO80].• The setting on the AF assist lamp andcontinuous AF are disabled.Press [ ] to display the [SCENE MODE]menu and select a scene mode.
