It is legal to listen to almost everytransmission your scanner can receive. However,there are some transmissions you should neverintentionally listen to. These include:• Telephone conversations (cellular, cordless,or other private means of telephone signaltransmission)• Pager transmissions• Any scrambled or encrypted transmissionsAccording to the Electronic CommunicationsPrivacy Act (ECPA), as amended, you aresubject to fines and possible imprisonment forintentionally listening to, using, or divulging thecontents of such a transmission unless you havethe consent of a party to the communication(unless such activity is otherwise illegal).This scanner is designed to prevent reception ofillegal transmissions, in compliance with the lawwhich requires that scanners be manufacturedin such a way as to not be easily modifiable topick up those transmissions. Do not open yourscanner’s case to make any modifications thatcould allow it to pick up transmissions that arenot legal to listen to. Doing so could subject youto legal penalties.In some areas, mobile use of this scanner isunlawful or requires a permit. Check the lawsin your area.
