Entering Text 48Section 4: Entering TextThis section describes how to select the desired text inputmethod when entering characters into your phone. This sectionalso describes the predictive text entry system that reduces theamount of key strokes associated with entering text.Your phone comes equipped with an orientation detector that cantell if the phone is being held in an upright (Portrait) or sideways(Landscape) orientation. This is useful when entering text.Your phone not only provides several on-screen keypad text entryoptions, but also provides handwriting recognition to make thetask of text entry that much easier.Text Input MethodsThere are two text input methods available:• Samsung Keypad (default): an on-screen QWERTY keypad thatcan be used in both portrait and landscape orientation.• Swype: a new way to enter text on touch screens. Instead oftapping each key, use your finger to trace over each letter of aword.The on-screen QWERTY keypad works the same in both portraitand landscape mode.Entering Text Using the Samsung QWERTYKeypadFrom a screen where you can enter text, rotate your phonecounterclockwise to a Landscape orientation.
