86Sound SettingsYou can use the Sound Settings feature tocustomise various settings, such as the:• ring tone, volume and type for incoming calls ormessages.• volume for the voice prompt.• sounds made when your call is connected orwhen you press a key.• mode to which your phone switches when youpress and hold the key.Incoming calls (Menu 3.1)This option allows you to set up the ringer forincoming calls.Note: If your SIM card supports the ALS feature, youmust select the line you wish to change first.The following options are available:Melody: lets you choose between many differentmelodies. Each time you select a melody from thelist, it plays the melody.Ring volume: allows you to adjust the ringvolume. Use the Up and Down keys or the Volumekeys on the left side of the phone. The more barsyou see, the louder the volume.Alert type: lets you specify how you are informedof any incoming calls.Melody: the phone rings using the melody selectedvia the Melody option. See above.Vibration: the phone vibrates but does not ring.Vibration then melody: the phone first vibrates andthen starts ringing.Sound Settings87Messages (Menu 3.2)This option allows you to set up the ringer forincoming messages.The following options are available:Tone: lets you choose from many different tones.Each time you select a tone from the list, the tone isplayed.Alert type: lets you specify how you are informedof any incoming messages.Silent: only the text notification appears; the phoneneither rings nor vibrates.Tone: the phone rings using the tone selected viathe Tone option. See above.Vibration: the phone vibrates but does not ring.Vibration then tone: the phone first vibrates andthen starts ringing.Repetition: allows you to specify how often thephone informs you of a new message. You canchoose either Once or Periodic.Power on/off (Menu 3.3)This option allows you to select the melody that thephone sounds when you switch it on or off.You can choose either Basic or Cheerful. To turnthe sound off, select Off.
