Itindicates that you have an incoming call ormessage, and notifies you at the specified timewhen you set an alarm.When you press and hold one of the Volume keyswith the folder closed, the external display’sbacklight illuminates.When the ear-microphone is connected to thephone, you can also use the button on it to turn thebacklight on.BacklightThe display and the keypad are illuminated by abacklight. When you press any key or open thefolder, the backlight illuminates. It turns off if nokey is pressed within a given period of time,depending on your setting in the Backlight menu(Menu 4.2.3). See page 92 for further details.Note: The backlight remains on at all times when thephone is connected to the ear-microphone.Display Off ModeIf no key is pressed one minute after the backlightturns off, the display goes into the Off mode to savethe power. Press any key to awake the display fromthe Off mode.
