TB8100 Service Kit User’s Manual Notifying Alarms 139Notifying AlarmsThe Notification Methods form lets you configure the way the base station letsyou know over the air and over the line that there is an alarm.Important: Configuring these notification methods does not enablenotification. This is done by Task Manager tasks that must beconfigured for your system.Base stations with an Alarm Reporting license can send alarms to an AlarmCenter and status messages (which contain the current state of all alarms and thealarm log) via email.Notifying Over the AirThe Service Kit lets you configure the way the base station notifies alarms usingthe base station’s own transmissions. To start and stop the over-the-air alarm,set up Task Manager statements. See “Over the air alarm actions” on page 190.Tip: Use CWID as an additional over-the-air alarm notificationmethod. Task Manager can disable CWID on startup, and thenenable it when particular alarm conditions occur. See “CWIDActions” on page 188.To configure the over-the-air alarm1. Select Configure > Alarms > Notification Methods.2. In the Over the air area, Type box, select an alarm type. Currently, onlyPip Tones are available. A pip tone is a 600 Hz tone with a duration of 200ms.3. In the Pip method box, select an option that specifies how the pip tonesare transmitted.Option DescriptionTail transmission A single pip tone is transmitted at the end of everytransmission.Periodically with Tx A pip tone is transmitted at the beginning of eachtransmission and regularly during the transmission atthe interval specified by the Pip interval box.Periodically with no Tx A pip tone is transmitted regularly when the basestation is not otherwise transmitting. Pip tones aretransmitted at intervals specified by the Pip intervalbox.
