In the Serial Port Number box, select the port on your PC that will beused by the cable from the BSS.6. In the Baud rate box, select a suitable communications speed: for a directconnection, this can be 57,600 or even 115,200 Baud.Note: You may experience slow or intermittent communications atbaud rates of 56k and above. This is not a Service Kit or base stationproblem; it has been found that serial ports on some older PCs donot operate correctly. Moving the mouse makes the problem worse (use of oneserial port affects the other). If you have this problem, select a slower Baud rate.7. Set suitable polling intervals. These specify the interval from one poll of thebase station to another. A direct connection can have very short intervals,for example 1 second for monitoring and 5 seconds for alarms.8. Click OK. The new connection now appears in the Connections dialogbox.Adding a Modem Dialup ConnectionFor each BSS that is fitted with a dial-up modem, you need to define aconnection.1.
