The currently selectedinterface is indicated with an asterisk on the control panel message display. There are also submenus available to setup the hotport parameters for eachinterface type.Auto SwitchingAuto Switching gives the printer the ability to handle multiple data streamssequentially. With Auto Switching, the printer can service hosts attached tothe serial, parallel, and Ethernet ports as if they were the only interfaceconnected. For example, if the host computer sends one print job to the RS-232 serialport and a separate print job to the IEEE 1284 parallel port, the printer's AutoSwitching is able to handle both jobs, in the order they were received. Theuser does not have to reconfigure the selected interface between jobs.Port TypeSelect the parallel interface type connected to the printer. For example, if yourprinter is attached to one host with a Centronics connection, you would selectCentronics under the Parallel Hotport menu.
