TASCAM CablesCable, because of its inherent capacitance andresistance, is an active component in an audiosystem. There are vast d ifferences in cabledesign and performance that have significanteffect on the sound qual ity you'll get fromyour equipment. TASCAM Professional AudioCables are the best available.Our cables feature very low capacitance (under1 5 picofarads/foot) so they don't act as low passfilters and roll off high frequencies. The capacitance is also consistent; it doesn't change whenthe cable is bent or compressed. You don'tget noise or degraded resu lts when the cablehas been used a while. Our cable's long termstab ility is provided by a special insulator that isas flexible as foam core dielectrics, but far moreresistant to extreme cold or heat, and it doesn'tlet the center strands migrate. It also avoids thepossibil ity of shearing the center conductorwhen the cable is crushed, so the cable does notsuddenly fail.Rather than loosely braided shield or spiralwrapped shield that can open up, we use barecopper braided shield with 97 % coverage.This excludes electrostatic noise (buzz) and R F I(CB interference, etc.) . We also u se a 7-strandcenter conductor: 4 pure copper strands forminimum resistance and 3 copper weld sta inlesssteel strands for strength. The multiple strandsincrease flexibility and strength while offeringless resistance at ultra high frequencies due toincreased su rface area for the "sk in effect."This imp roves transient response.The outer PVC insulating jacket resists abrasion,and is tightly fitted to the shield so it will notelongate. The connectors are special, too. Theirnickel plated brass center pins are a bit longerthan most to establish good contact in allRCA jacks. The cadmium plated steel outershell incl udes a gentle ridge which burn ishes themating jack when the connector is twisted toensure good contact. For maximum RF shielding, the braid is terminated inside the shell and2-radian soldered, not just spot soldered, formaximum strength. The plugs are clad with anoval jacket of molded plastic to further increase strength and make the ends easier tohandle.
