266. Interfacing with yourAudio SoftwareThis section is intended to present thebasic concepts needed to interface theUS-428 with an audio softwareapplication. It’s important to note thatdifferent programs will implement someof the features described heredifferently. As it would be beyond thescope of this manual to detail theoperation of each individual program,we’ll discuss the concepts presentedhere as they relate to the operation ofthe US-428 with the Cubasis VST audiosoftware included in the US-428package. Details on using the US-428with a number of other applications maybe found in section eight of this manual.Please refer to the manual for yourparticular audio application for furtherdetails.This discussion, however, is notintended to replace your software’susers’ manual. If you’ve got questionsspecific to Cubasis (or your digital audiosoftware of choice), please refer to theUser Manual for the program for furtherdetail.6.1 Selecting the US-428 asyour Audio Device6.1.1 Audio Control PanelIn Cubasis, open the Audio ControlPanel (see illustration 6.01). It’s locatedin the Audio pulldown menu, underSystem. Select the ASIO Device pull-down menu, and select ASIO US-428Driver. If your software only supports 16bit recording, a 16 bit driver has alsobeen included.In the Audio Control Panel, you canselect the number of audio channels youwish to use, as well as the samplingrate, Disk Cache settings, and MIDI toAudio offset. See the Cubasis manualfor more information on these settings.6.1.2. ASIO Control PanelIn the Audio Control Panel, click on thebutton marked ASIO Control Panel. TheUS-428 Control Panel will appear.
