408.3 Nuendo - Windows andMacOSThe US-428 is fully supported underNuendo v1.xx for Windows and Mac,including ASIO 16 and 24 bit drivers andcontrol surface mapping. We suggestyou make sure you’ve got the mostcurrent update.Before setting up the US-428 to workwith Nuendo, please install the US-428v3.0 drivers. (Refer to the document oninstalling the US-428 drivers with eitherWin98SE/ME or Win2000.) Begin thesetup procedure below with the US-428plugged in and power on. If you havenot already done so, install Nuendo.Installing the US-428 under Nuendo:Open the Nuendo applicationFrom the DEVICES menu, chooseDEVICE SETUP .Select the ADD/REMOVE tab. Select“TASCAM US-428” from the device menuand click ADD. TASCAM US-428 shouldappear on the list of loaded devices onthe left side of the window.Highlight US-428 and click the SETUPtab. Select US-428 CONTROL PORT forMIDI I NPUT and MIDI O UTPUT .Highlight VST M ULTITRACK. In the ASIODRIVER pull-down menu, select ASIOUS-428 (16- or 24-bit) driver.Highlight DEFAULT MIDI PORTS. SelectUS-428 MIDI 1 or 2 from the I NPUT andO UTPUT drop-down menus.From the DEVICES menu, choose VSTI NPUTS . Make sure at least one pair ofinputs for the US-428 are set to active.If you’re running Nuendo for the firsttime, you’ll need to create a new project.Select FILE/NEW PROJECT , and chooseEMPTY PROJECT.You’ll then need to add tracks to theproject. Select the PROJECT /ADDTRACKS menu. This can be done one-at-a-time by choosing the type of track(AUDIO, MIDI or GROUP), or by selectingM ULTIPLE.Once you’ve created Audio tracks, youcan open the VST Mixer (DEVICES/VSTM IXER, or press F1 on the US-428 or F3on your computer keyboard). Youshould have control of Nuendo’s faders,mutes, transports and other basicfunctions, as well as EQ and Aux sends.The controller mapping for the US-428within Nuendo largely follows the sameprotocols as Cubase and Cubasis.Refer to the US-428 manual for moreinfo on these functions. Refer to theNuendo manual for more info on basicoperations of the program.
