Many graphics applications have drawing tools that respond to thepressure you place on the pen. For example, in some drawing programs sliders are used to vary brushcharacteristics (width, color, and opacity). These characteristics can be controlled much better by the pen’spressure sensitivity – you can vary line width, blend colors, and change opacity with the pressure you exertupon the pen.DRAWING WITH TILTAs with pressure sensitivity, the tablet recognizes when you tilt the pen from vertical to inclined positions. Insome drawing applications, tilt can be used to control line shape and thickness. This is like working with anairbrush where tilt can be used to make a line thin when the tool is vertical, or wide when the tool is tilted. Inother applications, you can adjust tilt to define brush characteristics such as width, color and opacity. To adjust the amount of pen tilt required to produce a desired tilt effect in your application, see customizingtilt sensitivity. Visit our web site for a list of applications that support tilt. See product information. To draw with pressure sensitivity, firstselect a pressure-sensitive tool fromyour application’s tool palette. Thendraw along the surface of the tabletwhile applying various amounts ofpressure downward on the tip of thepen. Press hard for thick lines ordense color. Press gently for thin linesor softer color. To adjust the tip feel, see adjusting tip feel and double-click.The digital ink tools in MicrosoftWindows Vista and Office 2007 alsorespond to the pressure you place onthe pen.Visit our web site for a list of graphicsapplications that support pressure.See product information. To test tilt, draw a curve in a graphicsapplication (such as Painter) thatsupports tilt. Be sure that the tiltfunction in your application is active, then change the tilt of the pen as youdraw to vary the shape and thicknessof the brush stroke. As an example, when the brush shapedynamics in Photoshop have beenconfigured for tilt operation, tilting thepen results in an elongated pattern. This simulates the effects of anairbrush spray that is angled awayfrom the paint surface.
