If this is your first rig, or if Yaesu equipmentis already the backbone of your station, rest assuredyour transceiver will provide many hours of operatingpleasure for years to come.The FTDX 1200 is an elite-class HF transceiver provid-ing exceptional performance both on transmit and re-ceive. The FTDX 1200 is designed for the most competi-tive operating situations, whether you primarily operatein contest, DX, or digital-mode environments.Built on the foundation of the popular FTDX 9000 trans-ceiver, and carrying on the proud tradition of the FT-1000 series, the FT DX 1200 provides up to 100 Wattsof power output on SSB, CW, and FM (25 Watts AMcarrier). Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is utilizedthroughout the design, providing leading-edge transmit-ter and receiver performance.For exceptional protection from strong signal interfer-ence, the optional RF μTuning Kits may be connectedvia the rear panel. The RF μTuning Kits provide extraor-dinarily sharp selectivity and protect your receiver fromclose-in interference on a crowded band.In the front end, you may select one of two RF pream-plifiers, or IPO (Intercept Point Optimization), providingdirect feed to the first mixer. Three levels of RF attenua-tion are available in 6-dB steps.The FTDX 1200 receiver utilizes DSP filtering, incorpo-rating many of the features of the FTDX 9000, such as:Variable Bandwidth, IF Shift, and Passband Contourtuning. Also provided are Digital Noise Reduction, Digi-tal Auto-Notch Filtering and a manually tuned IF Notchfilter.On the transmit side, the Yaesu exclusive Three-BandParametric Microphone Equalizer allows precise andflexible adjustment of the waveform created by yourvoice and microphone. The audio Amplitude, CenterFrequency, and Bandwidth are adjusted separately forthe low, mid-range, and high-frequency audio spectrum.The transmitted bandwidth may also be adjusted.Advanced features include: Direct Keyboard FrequencyEntry and Band Change, Speech Processor, IF Monitorfor Voice modes, CW Pitch control, CW Spot switch,Full CW QSK, CW Message Memory, adjustable IFNoise Blanker, and all mode Squelch. Two TX/RXantenna ports are provided on the rear panel. Two keyjacks are provided (one on the front and one on the rearpanel). The key jacks may be configured independentlyfor paddle input, connection to a straight key, or com-puter-driven keying interface.Frequency setup is straightforward on the FT DX 1200.Enter frequency directly for VFO-A. Separate keys areavailable for band selection. Each band key providesthree separate VFO settings for three different parts ofeach band. You may create three independent VFO set-tings of frequency, mode, and filter for each band.In addition, 99 memories are provided to store: Frequen-cy, Mode, IF filter selection, Clarifier offset, and Scan-skip status. What’s more, five quick-recall (“QMB”)memories can instantly store operational settings at thepush of a button.The built-in antenna tuner includes 100 memories thatautomatically store antenna matching settings for rapid,later automatic recall.Interfacing for digital modes is extremely simple withthe FT DX 1200, thanks to the dedicated RTTY/DATAconnection jack on the rear panel. Optimization of thefilter passband, DSP settings, carrier insertion point, anddisplay offset for digital modes, is possible via the Menuprogramming system.Advanced technology is only part of the FT DX 1200story.
