Both strong and weak signalscan be displayed in an easy-to-understand manner on the TFT screen. This multifunctional scope takes into consid-eration the operator’s preference, by switching between the convenient CENTER mode where the VFO frequency isconstantly in the center of the screen (for monitoring conditions on both sides of your operating frequency), and the FIXmode, where the frequency is fixed to the left side of the screen (for convenience in monitoring in the band).Note: Since the FT DX 1200 has only one receiver the audio will be muted while the spectrum scope is scanning.1. Select an operating mode for the scope function,either CENTER or FIX mode.A dviCE:See the instructions on the next page for details onindividual operating modes.2. Press the [SCOPE] button momentarily to displaythe scope screen.Five different screens are shown on the TFT displayby pressing the [SCOPE] button.A dviCE: During continuous sweeping, no audio will be heard. Sweep speed can be changed in the Menu item“125 SCOPE SPEED”. The received sound spectrum is displayed onthe AF-FFT screen. Press the [MONI] button todisplay the received station’s transmission signalspectrum. On the AF-FFT screen, either the “Spectrum Dis-play” or the “Waterfall Display” can be selectedin the Menu item “185 FFT DISPLAY MODE”.Sweep ModeMANUAL modeEach time the [SELECT] button is pressed, a newscan of the spectrum scope is shown on the TFTdisplay.ASC (Automatic Spectrum-Scope Control) modePress the [AUTO] button to access the ASC mode.“AUTO” icon is indicated in red on the spectrumscope display. While the MAIN DIAL is turnedslowly, the spectrum scope does not change. Whenthe MAIN DIAL is turned quickly the audio ismuted and the spectrum scope is scanned continu-ally and displayed on the spectrum scope screenuntil the MAIN DIAL is completely stopped. Whenthe spectrum scope scanning is stopped, the audio isrestored.
