Page 120 FTDX9000D OPERATION MANUALVFO S CANNING1. Set the Main (VFO-A) band VFO to the frequency onwhich you would like to begin scanning.2. Rotate the Main (VFO-A) receiver’s SQL controlso that the background noise is just silenced.3. Press and hold in the microphone’s UP or DOWNkey for 2 second to start scanning in the specified di-rection. If the scanner halts on an incoming signal, the decimal pointbetween the “MHz” and “kHz” digits of the frequency dis-play will blink. If the incoming signal disappears, scanning will resume inabout five seconds. On the SSB/CW and SSB-based Data modes, the scanner willpause on a received signal, then will step across the signalvery slowly, giving you time to stop the scan, if you like. Inthese modes on the VFO, the scanner does not stop, however.VFO AND M EMORY S CANNINGQuick PointIf you have no interest in scanning, and wish to prohibitthe microphone's UP / DOWN keys from initiatingscanning, you may disable scanning control from the mi-crophone using Menu Item GENERAL 036 MIC SCAN(set it to “DISABLE”).MEMORY S CAN1. If the scan has paused on a signal, pressing themicrophone’s UP or DOWN key will cause scan-ning to resume instantly. If you press the microphone’s PTT switch during scan-ning, the scanner will halt at once. Pressing the PTTswitch during scanning will not cause transmission,however. You may select the manner in which the scanner re-sumes while it has paused on a signal, using Menuitem GENERAL 037 MIC SCAN RESUME.
