4-23EEMU00397Installing the PropellercC8 Be sure to install the thrust washerbefore installing propeller, otherwise,lower case and propeller boss may bedamaged.8 Be sure to use a new cotter pin andbend the ends over securely. Other-wise, the propeller could come off dur-ing operation and be lost.1) Apply Yamaha Marine grease or Cor-rosion resistant grease to the pro-peller-shaft.2) Install the thrust washer and propelleron the propeller-shaft.3) Install the spacer and washer. Tightenthe propeller nut to the specifiedtorque.4) Align the propeller nut with the pro-peller shaft hole. Insert a new cotterpin in the hole and bend the cotter pinends.NOTE:If the propeller nut does not align with thepropeller shaft hole after tightening to thespecified torque, then tighten the nut fur-ther to align it with the hole.602053Tightening torque:Refer to “SPECIFICATIONS” page 4-1.
