DUA1640-5AAA02Solving Problems With an SNMP Network Management Application 8-5Solving ProblemsWith an SNMPNetworkManagementApplicationThe SNMP network management application cannot access thestack. Check that:n The stack’s IP address, subnet mask and default router are correctlyconfigured, refer to “Giving the Stack an IP Address” on page B-9.n The stack has been reset.n The stack’s IP address is correctly recorded by the managementapplication. For information on how to do this, refer to thedocumentation accompanying the application.n SNMP Access has not been disabled for the access level you areusing to manage the stack. Use the Access Information panel ofthe General Info dialog box in Quick Config Manager, refer toAppendix B.n For management communication to work over the network, theport through which your communication reaches the stack must beconnected to segment 1 (either directly or indirectly) of the hub withthe IP address configured. For information, refer to “Requirementsfor Managing Over the Network” on page 5-6.Traps are not received by the SNMP network managementapplication. Check that the address of the management station isentered in the stack. You can do this using Quick Config Manager;refer to “Giving the Stack an IP Address” on page B-9.The SNMP network management application can no longeraccess the stack. Check that the port through which you are trying toaccess the stack has not been disabled. If it is enabled, check theconnections and network cabling at the port. Try accessing the stackthrough a different port. If you can now access the stack, a problemwith the original port is indicated, or it has been switched fromsegment 1 to another segment. Re-examine the connections andcabling.Possibly there is a network problem preventing you from accessing thestack over the network. Try accessing the stack through the consoleport of one of the hubs, and reset the stack. If you still cannot access the hub, use the Access Information panel ofthe General Info dialog box in Quick Config Manager to check if SNMPaccess is enabled, refer to Appendix B.
