Problems and Solutionswww.3ware.com 223Problems in 3DM and 3BMA 3ware RAID controller does not show in the list of controllersYou may not have the most recent driver for your controller. To find out the driver version currently installed, see “Determining theCurrent Version of Your 3ware Driver” on page 163Current drivers are available for download on the 3ware website athttp://www.3ware.com/support/download.asp.I am booting up my system and a drive is not showing up in thestartup screens, in 3BM, or in 3DMThis could be due to one or more of the following:• Defective cable• Defective drive• Defective RAID cage/chassis slot• Poorly seated drive• Poorly connected power cable• Poorly connected data cable• Defective port on the 3ware controllerIf a port that previously showed up at port 1 does not show up, try thefollowing:1 Power the system down, then reseat the drive in the slot, reseat the datacable, and reseat the power cable.2 Power the system back up.3 If the drive still does not show up in 3DM or 3BM, then swap the drive atport 1 with a drive on another port.4 If the drive now shows up on the new port, and the new drive on port 1does not, then the drive is OK. The problem could be the controller port, the cable, the power connector, or the RAID cage/chassis slot.5 Change each of these things, one at a time• Try a different port on the controller• Try a different data cable• Power the drive with a different power connector from the powersupply• Try connecting the drive directly to the motherboard, bypassing theRAID cage/chassis slotIf the drive shows up, then you will know which hardware was defec-tive.If the drive still does not show up, contact 3ware Technical Support.
